Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has stated that Chinese investment in Bangladesh has increased by 300 percent compared to last year. He added that Bangladesh can advance further through joint experience and cooperation.
He shared this information with journalists on Friday, September 12, at the “Belt and Road Initiative in Bangladesh Exhibition” held at the Bashundhara Convention Center in Dhaka.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin further emphasized, “We need to identify our weaknesses and progress through experience-sharing. Leveraging China’s expertise in production and packaging will accelerate the country’s development. Although Bangladesh is the world’s second-largest exporter in the ready-made garment sector, overall, we are still lagging behind.”
He also called for cooperation to improve road infrastructure and transportation capabilities. The adviser said, “The annual number of fatalities in road accidents is extremely alarming. In this regard, we have sought China’s assistance to develop our road and transport systems.”
