Bangladesh Bank has appointed observers in four private banks following allegations of irregularities and corruption. Letters were sent last week for close monitoring of management operations.
The banks are: National Bank Limited, Premier Bank Limited, IFIC Bank Limited, and Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited. Four directors from Bangladesh Bank have been assigned as observers to attend board, executive, and audit committee meetings and provide advice.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said the appointments were part of ongoing oversight measures to ensure financial discipline and transparency.
