Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s Mediation Fails in Sexual Harassment Case

In the ongoing sexual harassment case between Hollywood actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni, a court-supervised mediation session ended without any settlement. The session took place on Wednesday at the federal court in New York, lasting the entire day, after which both parties failed to reach a final agreement.

Lively filed allegations of sexual harassment against Baldoni following incidents on the set of the romantic drama film ‘It Ends With Us.’ The complaint also mentions that after the allegations, Baldoni allegedly used his public relations team to launch a campaign to defame Lively.

Baldoni’s lawyer, Brian Friedman, told the media that no settlement was reached and that the likelihood of settlement in the future is very low. He added, “We believe the case will go to trial, and we are prepared for that.”

The mediation was conducted under the supervision of Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave. Direct discussions between the parties had already been ongoing, but from the start, no visible progress was seen.

Meanwhile, Judge Louis Lyman is considering whether Lively’s claims will be entirely dismissed or partially rejected before the trial begins. Baldoni’s side has requested a summary judgment, arguing that the allegations are mainly trivial disputes or grievances and do not meet the legal standards for sexual harassment.

Lively’s lawyers stated that other colleagues on the set also raised complaints regarding Baldoni’s behavior. They argue that these complaints are serious enough and should be properly adjudicated by a jury.

The trial is scheduled to potentially begin on May 18. The case has drawn significant attention among critics because it presents an important precedent regarding sexual harassment allegations, set safety, and conduct on Hollywood film sets.
