The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has sought information on the bank accounts of popular content creator Salman Muqtadir. The financial intelligence agency sent letters to all banks and financial institutions in the country on Wednesday (September 30).

Several banks concerned have confirmed the matter.

In the letter sent by the BFIU, banks and financial institutions were asked to promptly provide detailed information about bank accounts held in Salman Muqtadir’s name. The requested information includes account-opening applications, customer identification and KYC-related documents, as well as details of transactions conducted through the accounts.

The letter instructed the institutions to send the requested information to the BFIU within the stipulated timeframe.

Earlier, on Saturday night (September 26), Salman Muqtadir’s ‘Brown Fish’ studio in the capital was reportedly attacked, vandalized and looted. Following the incident, law enforcement authorities detained several people.

On Monday (September 28), Salman Muqtadir spoke about the incident in a video message. He said he would not be required to pay any compensation in connection with the attack.

The BFIU’s request for information about his bank accounts came to light only a few days after the attack on his studio. However, the letter did not provide any information about the reason for seeking the bank account details or whether the request was connected in any way to the attack on the studio.
