Following the conclusion of the national cricket team’s fitness camp, preparatory practice for the Asia Cup had begun but was suddenly suspended. According to sources, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul will hold an “emergency meeting” with the national team players.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday (August 19) at 10:00 AM in a five-star hotel in Dhaka. In connection with this, the board president is returning to the country from Australia on Monday (August 18).
The Bangladesh team’s fitness camp began in Sylhet on August 6 and ended on August 13. After a one-day break, the Tigers resumed practice on August 15. Skill sessions were being held in Dhaka thereafter. However, the scheduled practice on Monday (August 18) was canceled due to the meeting.
BCB sources said the meeting will discuss various team-related matters with the players and provide necessary guidance. Board directors will also be present. After the meeting, the players will return to Sylhet by an evening flight.
After finishing practice in the tea city of Sylhet, the Tigers will return to the field on August 20 for the Netherlands series and Asia Cup preparation. Notably, from August 15, Liton Kumar Das and other team members worked with the team’s new power-hitting coach Julian Wood for the first time during the main practice sessions.
