In the third T20I, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by six wickets, securing a 3-0 clean sweep in the series. Chasing a target of 144, the Tigers achieved victory with two overs to spare, settling an old score as well. Back in 2018, Afghanistan had dominated Bangladesh in their “home” ground at Dehradun; this time, Bangladesh got their revenge in Sharjah.

Bangladesh’s batting started somewhat slowly but quickly accelerated thanks to an excellent partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan. Parvez Hossain bowled a maiden over to Mujib-ur-Rehman early on. Bangladesh lost their first wicket at 24 in the fourth over, yet the run rate remained steady.

After scoring 47 runs in the first six overs, Tanzid was dismissed for 33 runs off 33 balls. Saif Hassan remained unbeaten with 64 runs off 38 balls, hitting seven sixes and two fours, ensuring Bangladesh’s victory with composure.

Earlier, Afghanistan posted 143/9 in 20 overs, with Darwish Rasooli top-scoring at 32. Bangladesh’s bowlers imposed pressure from the start, with Saifuddin 3/15, Nasum 2/24, and Tanzim 2/24, limiting Afghanistan’s scoring.

With this win, Bangladesh enjoyed revenge on Afghanistan’s “home turf” and achieved another significant T20I thrashing. Both teams will now face off in a three-match ODI series, starting Wednesday.

Brief Score:

Afghanistan: 143/9 in 20 overs (Rasooli 32, Atal 28, Mujib 23*; Saifuddin 3/15, Nasum 2/24, Tanzim 2/24)

Bangladesh: 144/4 in 18 overs (Saif 64*, Tanzid 33, Parvez 14; Mujib 2/26, Omrzi 1/12, Ahmedzai 1/50)

Result: Bangladesh won by six wickets
