As part of preparations for the Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers, the Bangladesh national team played a friendly match against Bahrain in Vietnam on Monday (August 18). The match ended in a 1-0 defeat for Bangladesh. Coach Saifur Bari Titu’s players showed confidence and determination on the field.
This match marked the debut of overseas-based footballer Zayan Ahmed. After the game, Zayan said, “We played well. We created three to four clear chances, and the game was balanced.” He rated his own performance 7.5 out of 10 and the overall team performance 8 out of 10.
Zayan added, “Our squad is well-balanced, and everyone is working hard. From here, we can expect even better results.”
The main competition will begin on September 3, 6, and 9. In Group C, Bangladesh will face hosts Vietnam, Yemen, and Singapore. The champion of each group and the four best runners-up will secure a place in next year’s main tournament.
