In a press release on Tuesday, NBR explained that the similar pronunciation of iBAS++ and iVAS caused confusion among users for a long time. The name change aims to eliminate this confusion.
NBR clarified that the system’s services remain unchanged. Services previously available through iVAS, including online VAT registration, filing VAT returns, e-challan, and e-payment, will now be available through the e-VAT system. Businesses can also submit VAT-4.3 forms related to production and conduct real-time VAT collection through PKI software-based applications.
NBR added that efforts are ongoing to modernize the e-VAT system to make VAT management more transparent, efficient, and technology-driven in the future.
