At least 16 soldiers have been killed and 29 others injured in a devastating suicide bombing in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwest Pakistan, according to an AFP report on Saturday. Among the injured, 10 are military personnel while the remaining 19 are civilians.
A local government official told AFP, “A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy, killing 13 soldiers and injuring 10.”
He added, “The blast caused the roofs of two nearby houses to collapse, injuring six children.”
A police officer from the district said the blast’s intensity shook the surrounding area, and rescue operations were delayed as many people were trapped under the rubble.
This attack occurred amid ongoing tensions along the India-Pakistan border, where frequent clashes and firing incidents have been reported. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.
