In Birampur, Dinajpur, a youth named Sazidul Islam (38) was beaten to death over a theft allegation. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Jolapara village of South Daudpur, near the border. On Friday morning, the police sent his body to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
According to police, citing his relatives, Sazidul suspected two neighbors after losing 4,000 BDT from the 6,000 BDT he had kept at home. During an argument at the Daudpur Government Primary School field, Rayhan Kabir (25) and Nurunnabi (28) severely beat him with bamboo sticks, leaving him critically injured.
Locals first took him to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, and doctors referred him to Dinajpur for advanced treatment. When his condition worsened, he was taken to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Mamtazul Haque, officer-in-charge of Birampur Police Station, said the body has been sent for post-mortem. The victim’s family is preparing to file a case, and legal action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.
