Youth dies after mob beating over theft allegation in Bogura

A young man named Selim Mia (32) has died after being beaten by a mob in Shibganj upazila of Bogura following allegations of burglary. The incident took place late Thursday night in Chhatua Matalpara village under Majhihatta union.

Police said the deceased Selim Mia was the son of Abu Bakkar Siddique of Pilkunj village under Kalai union of Kahalu upazila in Bogura.

Local sources said that around 3:00 AM, Selim Mia allegedly entered a house by breaking in at night. When residents noticed and shouted for help, nearby villagers rushed to the scene.

The locals surrounded the house and caught Selim Mia. In a heated situation, the mob beat him severely. He died on the spot.

Police later recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue in Bogura.

Shibganj Police Station OC Shahinuzzaman Shahin confirmed the incident on Friday morning. He said the matter is under investigation and legal action is being processed.
