Police officer killed in collision involving patrol boat in Narayanganj

A police officer named Md. Mohsin Sardar (43) has died after a collision between a naval police patrol boat and a bulkhead at the junction of the Shitalakshya and Dhaleshwari rivers in Narayanganj. The accident occurred around 10:30 PM on Thursday.

According to police sources, a four-member team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokbul Hossain from the Kalagachhia Naval Police outpost was conducting a night patrol as part of anti-dacoity operations. During the patrol, their vessel collided with a bulkhead.

After the collision, the patrol boat capsized, and the officers fell into the river. Some members managed to swim and climb onto the bulkhead, but Mohsin Sardar was seriously injured.

He was rescued and taken to Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased Mohsin Sardar was from Gopalpur village in Paikgachha upazila of Khulna. He was the son of late Abdul Karim Sardar and is survived by his wife, one son, and one daughter. His death has cast a shadow of grief over his family and village.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Naval Police Station Raqibuzzaman confirmed the incident. He said police members are deeply saddened by the loss of a colleague in the line of duty. The body is currently kept at Narayanganj General Hospital for handover to the family.
