Two more ready-made garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh have been awarded green certification, bringing the total number of environmentally friendly factories in the country to 263.
The newly certified factories are:
A G Dresses Limited, located in the Tongi industrial area of Dhaka
Finn Bangla Apparels Limited, located in Boardbazar, Gazipur
Both factories have achieved LEED Platinum certification. A G Dresses scored 106 points, while Finn Bangla Apparels scored 104 points.
The green certification is issued by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). To earn this certification, factories must meet various standards. Out of a total of 110 points:
Above 80 points: LEED Platinum
60–79 points: LEED Gold
50–59 points: LEED Silver
40–49 points: LEED Certified
Recently, Faisal Spinning Mills Units 1, 2, and 3 in Habiganj also received green certification, achieving LEED Silver with a score of 58 points each.
Bangladesh’s factories hold a strong position globally among top green factories. Out of the top 10 factories worldwide, 12 are from Bangladesh, including 11 factories in the country. The highest score of 107 was achieved by Tanisha Fabrics (Admin Building) in Gazipur.

111 are Platinum
133 are Gold
15 are Silver
4 are Certified
This demonstrates that Bangladesh’s RMG sector is capable of producing world-class environmentally friendly factories.
