Two District Administration Officers Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Sunamganj

Two officers of the district administration were killed in a motorcycle accident in Sunamganj. The accident occurred on Saturday (September 13) around 11 a.m. on the Sunamganj-Sylhet road in Joykals area of Shantiganj Upazila.

The deceased are Md. Juel Mia (40), a district administration letter carrier, and Md. Sabdor Ali (38). Juel Mia was from Gopalpur village in Dowarabazar Upazila, and Sabdor Ali was from Mainar Point area in Sunamganj town.

According to local sources and the police, the two were traveling on a motorcycle to deliver a letter in Jagannathpur Upazila. On the way, their motorcycle collided head-on with a private car coming from the opposite direction in Joykals. One of them died at the scene, and the other was taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Local residents reported that the road was slippery due to morning rain, which may have caused the drivers to lose control of the motorcycle or car.

Suman Kumar Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge of Joykals Highway Police Outpost, said, “Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a private car. The bodies have been recovered and taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”
