Trump Slams Leak of U.S. Intelligence on Iran Strike

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed strong outrage after classified intelligence reports related to the recent U.S. strikes on Iran were leaked to the media. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump accused news outlets of downplaying the success of what he described as “one of the most successful military operations in history.”

“Fake News CNN, in collusion with the failing New York Times, is trying to undermine the significance of our historic strike. Iran’s nuclear sites have been completely destroyed!” Trump wrote. “People are furious with both the Times and CNN.”

The New York Times, citing leaked intelligence and anonymous U.S. officials, reported that Iran’s nuclear program was not completely destroyed in the recent attacks. The report claims that while the U.S. managed to seal the entrances to two Iranian nuclear facilities, the underground structures remained intact. Furthermore, Iran had relocated a large portion of its enriched uranium before the strikes, minimizing the destruction of nuclear materials. Some of the relocated uranium may have been moved to undisclosed nuclear sites, the report suggests.

An assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) indicated that the level of damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure was less than expected by some administration officials. The report further suggested that Iran retains control over nearly all of its nuclear assets, meaning it could potentially resume weapons production relatively quickly if it chose to.

The New York Times noted that the officials who spoke to them did so anonymously due to the classified nature of the intelligence report, parts of which were also previously aired by CNN.

The White House has strongly disputed the DIA assessment. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement calling the leaked evaluation “completely false” and claimed the motive behind the leak was to undermine President Trump and the pilots involved in the mission.

“Everyone knows what happens when fourteen 30,000-pound bombs hit their target with precision — total annihilation,” Leavitt said.
