A training plane has crashed at the Mona Vale Golf Course in Northern Beaches, Sydney. The incident occurred around 2:00 PM local time. The aircraft, a Piper PA-28-149 Cherokee, was on a training flight.
The pilot and instructor on board sustained minor injuries. Both are approximately 50 years old. After the accident, they were quickly taken by ambulance to the Royal North Shore Hospital.
According to flight records, the plane had departed from Camden around 1:00 PM, heading towards Wollongong. At the time of the crash, several golfers were present on the course. Videos circulating on social media show some players screaming and running away while others rushed toward the plane.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched an investigation into the crash. They will interview the pilot, relevant officials, and eyewitnesses, and collect any recorded data. Additionally, eyewitnesses are being urged to submit videos or other information directly on the ATSB website.
