Several executive positions at artificial intelligence research organization OpenAI have been reshuffled. The organization has confirmed this development.

Fidji Simo, head of OpenAI’s AGI development division, said in an internal memo that Chief Operating Officer (COO) Brad Lightcap will take on a new role. He will now lead ‘Special Projects,’ handling major investments and complex contracts, reporting directly to CEO Sam Altman.

Recently appointed Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser will take over some of Lightcap’s previous commercial responsibilities.

Fidji Simo also mentioned that she will go on medical leave for a few weeks due to a neuro-immune issue. During this time, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman will oversee product-related operations.

Meanwhile, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Kate Rouch is stepping down to focus on cancer treatment. Once recovered, she may return to a different and limited role. Recruitment for this position will begin.

OpenAI stated that despite these leadership changes, research, global user expansion, and corporate services will continue as normal. The organization affirmed that the current leadership team is capable of implementing future plans and maintaining continuity.
