Three Killed, Ten Injured in Bus Accident in Sirajganj

In Sirajganj’s Raiganj Upazila, three people have died and at least ten passengers were injured in a road accident involving a passenger bus.

The accident occurred on Friday (April 3) around 11:30 a.m. in front of the Nalca Gas Office on the Hatikumrul–Dhaka highway.

Among the deceased, the identities of two have been confirmed. They are Rakhi Begum from Chandikona area of Raiganj Upazila and Rakibul Islam from Badalgachi, Naogaon. The identity of the third deceased person is yet to be confirmed.

Police reported that a bus traveling from North Bengal to Dhaka lost control upon reaching Nalca area. The bus then collided with the road divider and overturned. As a result, three people died at the scene and several passengers were injured.

Amirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Jamuna Setu West Police Station, said that upon receiving the news of the accident, police and fire service teams quickly reached the scene and began rescue operations. The injured were taken to various local hospitals for treatment.

He further stated that efforts are underway to remove the bus from the road, and legal action will be taken regarding the incident.

Locals have demanded that necessary safety measures be strengthened on this stretch of the highway to prevent further accidents.
