On Thursday, the Prime Minister met with leaders of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council and the Metropolitan General Puja Committee at the Secretariat.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon stated that during the meeting, leaders presented various concerns and issues to the Prime Minister.
Present were Local Government Minister, BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, members of the Chairman’s Advisory Council, and other officials.
Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council President Basudeb Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma, Metropolitan General Puja Committee President Jayanta Kumar Dev and General Secretary Tapas Chandra Pal, along with Advocate Subrata Chowdhury and Tapan Majumdar, participated in the meeting.
After the meeting, Jayanta Kumar Dev told reporters, “The Prime Minister listened attentively to our issues and assured that they will be resolved gradually. We also highlighted incidents of persecution and denial of justice against the minority community after August 5, 2024, as well as issues related to the Minority Commission, Minority Protection Law, Hindu Foundation, and Devoottor property.”
Santosh Sharma said, “Our concerns were presented to the Prime Minister, who assured us of step-by-step resolution.”
Such meetings are considered important for protecting minority rights in the country.
