At a rally in Itna, Kishoreganj, suspended BNP leader Fazlur Rahman demanded the return of the party’s election symbol, the “Dhanshish” (rice sheaf). Addressing the crowd, he said, “I cannot decide this alone; the party must also be consulted. There is a major conspiracy against me.”

During the rally, Fazlur Rahman stated that he had been questioned by BNP, although he could not believe the allegations. He claimed that he had never delivered speeches against religion and that no one other than Jamaat-e-Islami could level such accusations against him.

Fazlur Rahman also criticized Jamaat-e-Islami, saying they aim to kill followers of Sufism and spread false rumors in his name. He added that the upcoming election would be his last contest, but he wants to run under the Dhanshish symbol.

The rally concluded at the Itna College ground, with Fazlur Rahman leading the procession. His wife, Umme Kulsum, who is the vice president of the district BNP, was also present.

It is notable that on 26 August, the BNP Chairman’s Advisory Council suspended all of Fazlur Rahman’s positions, including his primary membership, for three months.
