Kathmandu, September 8, 2025:

Amid massive protests in Nepal, students and citizens have taken over the Parliament building in the capital, Kathmandu. The youth of Nepal have been protesting for a long time against corruption, unemployment, the education system crisis, and political instability. Today, they finally broke through the main gates and entered the Parliament.

Eyewitnesses reported that thousands of students and citizens took to the streets from early morning, carrying Nepal’s national flag, placards, and banners. Protesters demanded the resignation of corrupt politicians, holding posters with slogans like “Stop Corruption,” “We Want Integrity,” and “Gen Z for Change.”

Clashes erupted between the protesters and police as they entered the Parliament building. Several people were reportedly injured. Police deployed tear gas and conducted baton charges in some areas to bring the situation under control.

Protesters claimed that Nepal’s main political parties have failed to meet the basic needs of the people while in power for many years. The youth demand immediate reforms to ensure good governance, employment, and improvements in the education system.

The government, meanwhile, stated that it will seek a solution through dialogue with the protesters. However, the demonstrators have said they will not leave the Parliament building until their demands are met.

Analysts believe that this youth-led movement in Nepal signals a significant potential shift in the country’s future political landscape.
