As the world-renowned space technology company SpaceX prepares for a possible stock market listing, discussions have intensified about its ownership structure and investor influence. According to the company’s filed S-1 document, founder Elon Musk still maintains almost complete control over the company.
The report states that Musk holds approximately 64.2 billion shares. Among them, each Class ‘B’ share carries ten voting rights. As a result, his influence in major decision-making remains almost absolute.
One of the most discussed aspects is that if SpaceX’s planned colonization of Mars successfully establishes a population of one million people, Musk would be entitled to receive an additional 1 billion shares. Although many analysts view this as a futuristic and symbolic condition, it is believed that it could further strengthen Musk’s control over the company.
According to market analysts, a potential SpaceX public listing could raise around 75 billion US dollars. In that case, the company’s potential valuation could reach approximately 1.7 trillion US dollars. Based on this, even a 1% ownership stake could be worth about 17 billion dollars.
Among the major shareholders after Musk is investor and board member Antonio Gracias. He holds approximately 504 million shares. He is known as a close associate of Musk and is involved in several of Musk’s companies.
Another significant investor, Luke Nosek, holds approximately 33 million shares. He is a member of the so-called “PayPal Mafia” group of entrepreneurs and one of SpaceX’s early investors.
Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell, who plays a key role in the company’s daily operations, also holds a significant number of shares. She has been working at SpaceX since 2002 and is considered one of the company’s most important executives.
In addition, Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen and board members Ira Ehrenpreis and Randy Glein are also among the company’s notable shareholders.
It is known that SpaceX has so far raised around 30 billion US dollars in private investment. Investors have purchased shares at different prices over various funding rounds. In the early stage, the price per share was only 1 dollar, which later increased to 270 dollars in subsequent rounds.
According to analysts, if SpaceX successfully enters the stock market, it could have a major impact not only on the space technology sector but also on the global technology and investment markets.
