Shibir-Supported Alliance Sweeps Top Three DUCSU Positions

The final results of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election were announced on Wednesday morning by the Election Commission. According to the declared results, the top three positions—Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS), and Assistant General Secretary (AGS)—were won by candidates from the Shibir-supported United Student Alliance.

For the VP position, the United Alliance candidate Abu Sadik Qayem secured a decisive victory with 14,042 votes. His nearest rival, Abidul Islam Khan from the Chhatra Dal-supported panel, received 5,708 votes. Meanwhile, independent candidate Shamim Hossain received 3,883 votes, and Umama Fatema got 3,389 votes.

In the GS contest, Shibir-supported candidate S.M. Farhad won with 10,794 votes. Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, backed by Chhatra Dal, received 5,283 votes, while Meghmallar Basu of the Protirodh Parishad secured 4,949 votes.

The AGS position was also claimed by United Alliance candidate Muha. Mohiuddin Khan, who obtained 11,772 votes. His nearest competitor, Chhatra Dal-supported Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, got 5,064 votes, while independent candidate Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury received 3,008 votes.

Although independent and other panel candidates also contested the election, the top three positions were clearly won by the Shibir-supported United Student Alliance with a substantial margin.
