On September 1, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will mark its 47th founding anniversary. To commemorate the day, the party has organized a seven-day program, according to a notice published on BNP’s verified Facebook page on Wednesday (August 20).
As per the announced schedule, on August 31, a discussion session on the significance and objectives of the anniversary will be held at the Engineers’ Institution auditorium in the capital. Senior BNP leaders along with intellectuals from various professions will attend the event.
On the day of the anniversary, September 1, the program will begin in the morning with the hoisting of the party flag at BNP’s office in Nayapaltan and across the country. At 11 a.m., a Fateha prayer and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the grave of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman. Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, members of the National Standing Committee, and leaders and activists of allied organizations will participate.
Additionally, discussion meetings and rallies will be organized in districts and major cities across the country. On September 2, a colorful rally will start from the central office in Nayapaltan, followed by similar programs at the upazila and municipal levels on September 3.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, special supplements will be published in national newspapers, along with poster campaigns and promotional activities. Cultural programs, tree-planting drives, fish release events, free medical camps, and sports activities are also planned.
It is noted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was founded on September 1, 1978, by then-President Ziaur Rahman.
