In Tangail, President of the Krishok Sromik Jonta League, Bir Bikram Kader Siddiqui, expressed his protest at a rally on Monday afternoon, saying, “It is truly shocking that Section 144 was imposed on a gathering of freedom fighters. This will mark a new record in our history. Freedom fighters come together, yet the administration has prevented their meeting.”
The protest rally was held in front of his residence on Kobi Nazrul Sarani in Tangail town, where Kader Siddiqui voiced his anger over the attack and vandalism at his home last Saturday and the imposition of Section 144 on a freedom fighters’ assembly.
At the rally, he said, “Difficult days of struggle lie ahead. You will have to take to the streets. I am pleased to see those present today. Strength must be controlled; uncontrolled strength has no value. In the future, I will announce programs, and everyone must rush to participate.”
Kader Siddiqui also said, “Police are outside with sticks, so they do not have to use them. The day we take to the streets, neither sticks nor guns will be able to stop us. As long as Bangladesh exists, ‘Joy Bangla’ will prevail. The ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman guide our path.”
Speakers at the rally included former commander of the District Freedom Fighters’ Council Fazlul Haque Bir Protik, Kaderia Bahini company commander Kazi Ashraf alias Humayun Bangal, freedom fighter Emdadul Haque, and local leaders.
During the protest, police were stationed around Kader Siddiqui’s residence from morning and secured the venue. Participants maintained discipline and peacefully expressed their views.
