Rosalía herself is trained in classical music and collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) for this project. Following the album’s release, the use of the hashtag #ClassicalMusic on TikTok increased by 60%.
A 15-year-old student, C, said, “Many find classical music boring, but I really enjoy playing it. Rosalía’s album has inspired me a lot. Using such instruments in modern music is really fun.” C is a member of the LSO East London Academy, which provides free instrument training to students aged 11–18.
Another 18-year-old student, Yanah, a cello player at the same academy, initially didn’t like the instrument but grew to love it. She believes that institutions like this help increase youth interest in classical music.
Hattie Butterworth, editor of classical music magazines Choir & Organ and Opera Now, commented, “Modern audiences connect more with artists who are classically trained. It increases credibility in their work.”
Rosalía’s top tracks, La Parla and Berghain, have inspired nearly 600,000 TikTok videos, accumulating three billion views.
Belinda McFarland, second violinist of the LSO for 35 years, shared her experience working on the album: “Rosalía used every note creatively in her songs. It was an extraordinary experience collaborating with her.”
LUX not only sparks interest in classical music but also plays a vital role in making classical-modern pop fusion appealing to a new generation.
