According to the latest statistics from Bangladesh Bank, remittance inflow to the country increased by 81.6 percent in the first five days of August, surpassing 328 million US dollars. In the same period last year, remittance was 181 million dollars.

From the beginning of the current fiscal year (July 2025) until August 5, expatriates have sent a total of 2,806 million dollars, which is 33.9 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. In the same period last fiscal year, remittance was 2,094 million dollars.

In the fiscal year 2024-25, expatriate Bangladeshis sent a record-high remittance of 30.33 billion dollars to the country. This is a 26.80 percent increase compared to 23.91 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year (2023-24).

Analysts believe that the continuous increase in remittance inflow is due to higher earnings of expatriate workers and improvements in the global economic situation.

The government is also taking various initiatives to make remittance sending and expatriate welfare systems easier, which is expected to boost remittance inflow in the future.
