State Minister for Local Government Mir Shah Alam stated that although various development promises have been heard over the past 17 years, their actual implementation has not been significant. The real situation is becoming clear while working at the field level.
He made these remarks on Friday (April 3) morning during an inspection of the historic Mahmudul Hasan Chand Bazaar in Tangail town.
The minister informed that discussions have already taken place with the relevant district local government department regarding the development of important markets and road infrastructure, including Park Bazaar in Tangail. He assured that these development activities would begin soon.
Regarding the fuel situation, he said that there is no shortage of fuel in the country and the supply system is normal. The government has already made plans for the next three months to ensure there is no disruption in fuel supply. In addition, some new initiatives have been taken to save fuel, including closing markets by 6 p.m. and reducing expenditure of ministers and secretaries by 30%.
Also present during the inspection were State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, President of Sadar Upazila BNP Azgar Ali, former Organizational Secretary of Tangail District BNP Rashedul Alam Rashed, Shafiqur Rahman Khan Shafik, and officials from various district administration departments.
