Bangladesh has set a new record in remittance inflows this March. In the first 28 days of the month, $3.332 billion has been received, marking the highest remittance in a single month in history.

According to Bangladesh Bank, no previous month had seen such a large inflow of remittances. Last March, the record was $3.29 billion, which has now been surpassed.

Sources attribute this positive trend to incentives for sending money through legal channels, increased awareness among expatriates, and greater use of banking channels.

From July of the 2024-25 fiscal year to March 28, a total of $25.785 billion has been received, about 18.8% higher than the same period last fiscal year.

Overall, strong growth in remittances has been observed throughout the fiscal year, with total inflows exceeding $30 billion, the highest in a single year in the country’s history.

Economists believe that continued remittance inflows will strengthen foreign currency reserves, positively impact the overall economy, support import expenditures, and help stabilize the currency market.
