Expressing concern over the spread of measles and child deaths in the country, National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said the current government cannot avoid responsibility for the crisis and demanded effective measures and impartial investigation.

He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon as the chief guest at a joining program held at the July Revolution Memorial Hall of Chattogram Press Club, where hundreds of leaders and activists from LDP and other political and social organizations joined NCP.

He said measles outbreaks are increasing at an alarming rate, with reports of over a hundred child deaths. He demanded that those responsible be brought to justice, stating that the government cannot shift blame entirely onto previous administrations.

He stressed the need for urgent action to protect public health and prevent further child deaths.

Referring to political reforms, he said the government is not sincere in implementing promised reforms. He also mentioned the role of NCP in pursuing justice and reform movements.

He also commented on West Bengal elections, saying political situations in neighboring regions can affect Bangladesh and emphasized responsibility regarding voting rights and minority issues.

The program also featured speeches by senior party leaders. However, the event saw temporary disorder, including chaos inside the hall and arguments involving journalists. Additional police were deployed for security.
