Technology giant Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue its lightweight version email app Outlook Lite. The company said the app will no longer be usable from 26 May.

Outlook Lite was launched in 2022, mainly designed for Android phones with low storage capacity and slow internet connections. It was targeted at users in developing countries.

Earlier last year, Microsoft had already announced that the app would be phased out and removed from the Google Play Store in October 2025. In its latest announcement, the company confirmed that existing users will also soon lose access to the service.

Microsoft has advised users to switch to the full Outlook Mobile app for better security and complete features. After logging in to the new app, users will still be able to access their previous emails, calendars, and attachments as before.

Users are also being instructed to download the standard Outlook app from the Google Play Store.

Analysts believe that Microsoft made this decision to consolidate users into a single, full-featured platform instead of maintaining multiple apps.
