‘Meta AI’ Arrives on WhatsApp: Artificial Intelligence Now Summarizes Your Messages

In today’s busy life, finding time to reply to every message on social media or messaging apps can be challenging. Especially when multiple messages come from unfamiliar contacts, it becomes difficult to understand the core content without reading them all. To address this problem, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature — an AI-powered chatbot called ‘Meta AI’ that will automatically generate summaries of messages for users.

Currently in the global experimental phase, this new feature will display a special button in the chat option. By tapping this button, the app will create summaries of all unread messages, allowing users to grasp the key information without reading each message in full.

For security, WhatsApp says this summarization process will be carried out entirely on the user’s device through a secure system called ‘private processing.’ This means no message data will be stored on Meta or WhatsApp servers.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature has already been activated for certain beta users and will be gradually rolled out to other users soon.

In addition, WhatsApp is introducing another AI-based feature named ‘Writing Help.’ This tool will assist users by automatically making their written messages shorter, more polished, and contextually relevant.

Experts believe that such features will save users time and make technology-driven communication easier. However, even after these features are launched, users will have the option to disable them via settings if they wish.

Technology specialists think that this use of artificial intelligence — maintaining security and privacy — is set to create a new benchmark in the tech world.
