Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has alleged that the social media platform Facebook is acting in a biased and undemocratic manner against him. As a result, his personal Facebook ID and official page have been repeatedly removed and suspended. Considering this action unjust, he filed a general diary (GD) at Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka.

The matter of the GD, filed on Monday afternoon, was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, Kazi Rafique, later in the evening. He stated that several leaders from Mamunul Haque’s party filed the GD on his behalf.

Hassan Junaid, the publicity secretary and media coordinator of Khilafat Majlis, said in a statement that for a long time, whenever Mamunul Haque’s name, statements, or photos are posted on Facebook, various restrictions are imposed. This has affected not only his personal ID but also the party’s official page and related media, repeatedly facing restrictions.

In the GD, Mamunul Haque mentioned that this has caused him serious social and political harm. He claimed that despite being the head of a registered political party, he is being deliberately obstructed on social media, which poses a serious threat to democracy and freedom of expression.

He expressed hope that Meta authorities would reconsider the matter, take a fair decision, and allow him to continue his normal political activities without any further obstruction.
