Main Suspect Arrested in Van Driver Murder Case in Monirampur

In Monirampur, Jessore, police have arrested one of the main suspects, Sabbir Rahman, also known as Boro Sabbir (40), in the case of van driver Mintu Hossain’s (40) murder over a refusal to pay a BDT 5,000 extortion fee.

According to police sources, he was apprehended early Monday morning (8 September) at Sundarli Bazar through mobile tracking. The arrested Sabbir is the son of Sadeq Ali from Hakoba village.

Earlier, on the evening of 28 August, Sabbir along with several others attacked van driver Mintu Hossain and five members of his family in Hakoba, leaving them injured. Mintu was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka in critical condition, where he later died while undergoing treatment. Following the incident, the victim’s mother, Amena Begum, filed a murder case at Monirampur police station.

Immediately after the incident, police had arrested two individuals—Faruk and Chhoto Sabbir. With the arrest of Boro Sabbir, another key suspect in Mintu Hossain’s murder case has been brought into custody. Police have stated that further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other involved individuals.
