The Ministry of Education has initiated a plan to introduce a commerce stream in the country’s madrasa education system. Initially, a policy decision has been made to include four subjects.

This matter was raised during a meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday in discussions of the National Curriculum Committee (NCC). Sources say that if the commerce stream is introduced, subjects like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Management could be included.

Education experts note that this change aims to ensure timely and vocational education. It will increase students’ knowledge of business and commerce and facilitate the development of skilled entrepreneurs in the future.

The introduction of a commerce stream in madrasas has been under discussion for a long time. According to sources, the plan is now moving toward implementation. They believe this will create new opportunities for madrasa students while aligning with the general education curriculum.

However, the plan is still in the preliminary stage. Finalizing the curriculum, teacher training, and infrastructural preparation will be completed before gradually introducing this stream.

Education analysts say that if implemented, this initiative will expand the scope of madrasa education, offering students more diverse opportunities for higher education and employment.
