Locker Robbery at Krishi Bank in Khulna, 1.6 Million Taka Stolen

In Rupsa Upazila of Khulna, criminals broke into the lockers of the Krishi Bank’s East Rupsa branch and stole nearly 1.6 million Taka. The police suspect that the incident occurred sometime between Thursday afternoon (14 August) and Friday night around 10:30 PM. No arrests have been made so far.

According to local sources, Thursday was the last working day of the week, and the bank closed in the afternoon with no night guard on duty. On Friday night, the security guard discovered the main gate lock had been cut and raised the alarm. Locals quickly arrived at the scene and informed the police.

Bank authorities confirmed that approximately 1.6 million Taka was stolen from the lockers. Rupsa Police Station OC Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman stated that considering the timing and method of the incident, the bank’s security lapses appear to have provided an opportunity for the criminals.

He further added that CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas is being collected and analyzed. Anyone found involved in the incident will be brought under the law.
