Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Deputy Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, said on Friday (15 August) at a dialogue meeting with people of different faiths in Choudhgram that there is no need to create divisions based on minority or majority. He stated, “We are all humans. Since its establishment, Jamaat-e-Islami has been working for the welfare of people of all religions. This is the call of every faith.”
On the occasion of Janmashtami, Dr. Taher extended greetings to the Hindu community and assured that anyone under the banner of Jamaat who mistreats or harasses people of other faiths will face strict action. He added, “You should not live in fear. We are here to ensure your safety. We will work to make Choudhgram a model upazila of communal harmony.”
The meeting was chaired by Choudhgram Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mahfuzur Rahman, with Secretary Belal Hossain serving as moderator. Other speakers included Municipal Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Ibrahim, Jamaat leaders Abdur Rahim, Yasin Majumdar, Zainal Abedin Patowary, Dipankar Chakraborty, Shyamal Sur, Rai Mohan Sutradar, Balram Karmakar, and Basu Debnath.
All participants at the meeting unanimously emphasized that living in harmony with people of different religions and maintaining social peace is the highest priority.
