Joint forces raid at a coaching center in Kadirganj, Rajshahi

A joint force has been conducting a raid at a coaching center in the Kadirganj area of Rajshahi city since Saturday morning. Around 9:30 AM, army personnel surrounded the coaching center named “Doctor English” and blocked the main road.

Local sources said the building is owned by Shafiul Alam (Lattu), former vice president of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP. His son, Muntasir Alam (Onindya), manages the coaching center and is a relative of former Rajshahi city mayor A H M Khairuzzaman Liton. Muntasir Alam was previously arrested as a suspect in the murder case of Rezaul Karim, a teacher in the English department of Rajshahi University, but he was later cleared of the charges.

The army has not issued any official statement regarding the raid as of noon. Gaziur Rahman, spokesperson for Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, said, “Further details will be known after a briefing by the army. The police will also comment on the matter after any formal case is filed.”

At the scene, traffic on the main road in Kadirganj has been halted. In addition to army personnel, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police is present. A crime scene tape has been set up in front of the “Doctor English” coaching center to cordon off a specific area, and the operation is ongoing.
