Jamaat announces mayor candidate for Gazipur City election

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its mayoral candidate for the upcoming Gazipur City Corporation election, along with potential councillor candidates.

The announcement was made on Wednesday (May 6) evening at an assembly held at the Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa auditorium in Tongi by party Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar.

Dr. Muhammad Hafizur Rahman has been nominated as Jamaat’s mayoral candidate for Gazipur City Corporation. After the announcement, he said his main goal would be to develop Gazipur into a safe, clean, and livable city.

Speakers at the event discussed the current political situation in the country, the 13th national parliamentary election, and Jamaat’s organizational position. They also spoke about implementing the July Charter.

The program was presided over by Gazipur Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer and central Shura member Md. Jamal Uddin. Chief guest was Mia Golam Porwar.

Special guests included Jamaat’s central executive committee member and Dhaka North regional director Muhammad Abdur Rob and Gazipur-4 constituency MP Salahuddin Ayubi.

Leaders and activists from various levels of Gazipur Metropolitan Jamaat and its affiliated organizations also attended.

Party sources said the candidate announcement is part of strengthening organizational preparations ahead of local government elections.
