US Embassy official pays courtesy visit at NCP office

James Stewart, Political Officer at the US Embassy in Dhaka, paid a courtesy visit to Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, spokesperson of the National Citizens Party (NCP), on Wednesday evening.

The meeting was held at the party’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka.

The discussion focused on Bangladesh’s ongoing political and overall situation, as well as strengthening bilateral relations between Dhaka and Washington, according to sources.

Assistant Political Specialist of the US Embassy Md. Iqbal Mahmud was also present. On behalf of NCP, central committee member Ayman Rahat accompanied the spokesperson.

Party sources said the meeting included discussions on mutual cooperation, political stability, and democratic processes. Both sides expressed interest in maintaining constructive communication in the future.

Observers say this courtesy meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic engagement with various political parties amid the current political context.
