PNN International Desk Report: Amid growing Middle East tensions, Iran and Israel exchanged multiple rounds of missile fire, resulting in widespread destruction in Tehran and civilian injuries in northern Tel Aviv, escalating fears of a broader regional conflict.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society confirmed that Israeli missiles targeted residential buildings in Tehran, causing several homes to collapse. In a statement on Telegram, the organization said, “Our rescue teams are on the ground, assisting injured residents and searching for those trapped under debris.” The operation involves ambulances, medical teams, and local volunteers, as the scale of damage continues to unfold.
This attack comes in direct response to Iranian missile launches late Monday night, which, according to the Israeli military, involved around 30 projectiles fired toward Israeli territory. Most were intercepted, but several did strike residential zones north of Tel Aviv, setting buildings ablaze.
Fire crews worked through the night to extinguish the flames, with at least two people reported injured. Emergency services have since evacuated nearby residents as a precaution.
Each side is blaming the other for initiating the latest round of hostilities. Iran accuses Israel of targeting civilians, while Israel insists its actions were defensive retaliation against Iranian aggression.
Security analysts warn that the continued exchange of long-range strikes between two of the region’s most powerful adversaries could spiral into a larger war, further destabilizing an already fragile region.
The international community, including the UN Secretary-General, has called for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic de-escalation to prevent further civilian harm and regional destabilization.
As the situation evolves, humanitarian agencies are urging all parties to respect international law and prioritize the protection of civilians.
