Dhaka: Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that if the public is focused on the elections, no conspiracy or obstacle can disrupt the electoral process. He made the remarks on Saturday (23 August) afternoon after inspecting the cold storage facility of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

The Home Affairs Adviser said that according to the schedule announced by the Chief Adviser, law enforcement agencies are fully prepared for the February elections. He noted that while misleading campaigns are taking place on Facebook and other social media during the election period, when the public is election-focused, no one will be able to create any obstruction.

Regarding weapons recovery operations, he stated that the efforts are not only for election times but are conducted year-round to prevent the illegal entry of arms into the country. “Weapons were recovered today as well. We hope to seize almost all illegal arms before the elections,” said Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

On election preparations, he emphasized that law enforcement agencies are fully ready to conduct elections according to the scheduled timeline, and the borders are completely secure. The public is also participating vigilantly at the borders.

He further added that any attempt to seize polling stations or ballot boxes will not succeed, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure peaceful and fair elections in the country.
