Mohammad Ibrahim (20), a fugitive suspect in a murder case under Ramu Police Station in Cox’s Bazar, has been arrested from the Mohipur area of Patuakhali district by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
A joint operation by RAB-8, CPC-1, Patuakhali, and RAB-15, Cox’s Bazar, led to the arrest of Ibrahim at Bipanpur village in Sadar Mohipur Union from Ultakhali village on Sunday at 8 PM based on a secret tip-off.
According to RAB sources, on 2 July, the deceased Sohel (17) went out as usual for his livelihood riding an auto-rickshaw but went missing. The following morning, his bloodied body was found floating in a canal in Rashidnagar area. The victim’s father, Riaz Uddin, along with family members, identified the body.
Later, Ramu police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital to prepare the postmortem report. On 4 July, the victim’s father filed a murder case at Ramu Police Station. The case number is 15, under sections 302/201/34 of the Penal Code.
Squadron Leader Rashed, company commander of RAB-8, CPC-1, said the arrested suspect has been handed over to Mohipur Police Station for further legal action. Mohipur Police Station OC Mohammad Mahmud Hasan stated that Ibrahim was transferred to Ramu Police Station on Monday afternoon.
