International Desk | PNN:
Hamas has handed over four more Israeli bodies to the Red Cross, bringing the total number of released bodies to eight. Of these, the families of three bodies have confirmed their identities, while according to the Israeli military, the fourth body does not match any known captive. Israel has stated that the process of recovering the bodies is ongoing, but due to the situation in Gaza and the rubble, it is extremely challenging.
Last Tuesday, Hamas handed over eight bodies to the Red Cross. However, 20 bodies still remain in Gaza, and the Israeli military has indicated that recovering some of them may take more time. Meanwhile, tensions persist at Gaza’s border, with Israel restricting crossings.
The situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly critical, as international aid is struggling to reach refugees due to strict Israeli border controls. The status of the Rafah crossing remains uncertain, preventing the Red Cross, UN, and other humanitarian organizations from delivering aid.
Ismail Al-Thawabta, director of Gaza’s media office, said:
"The people of Gaza are facing a shortage of water and other basic services. It is crucial to apply international pressure to open the border."
He added:
"Around 250,000 tons of waste have accumulated in Gaza, creating a massive environmental disaster."
The situation inside Gaza could deteriorate further, especially as Hamas faces challenges in recovering bodies. The rubble in Gaza includes 55 million tons of soil and debris, which poses significant obstacles to recovery operations.
Meanwhile, discussions continue between Israel and Hamas regarding the border, but no final resolution has been reached. The Israeli military is currently conducting operations in the southern part of Gaza City, with tanks firing in several areas.
These events have raised international concern, and the global community is applying pressure for a swift resolution.
