PNN News Desk, Lakshmipur –
In a devastating fire in Narinpur, Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur, a four-month-old infant tragically died after being burned. The same incident also completely or partially destroyed four residential homes. The fire occurred on Tuesday afternoon, creating grief and panic in the area.
According to local residents and police sources, smoke and fire were first seen coming from the house of Dulal Hossain in Narinpur in the afternoon. Within moments, the fire spread to surrounding homes. The four-month-old child, Ayat Hossain, who was inside the house at the time, was severely burned and died at the scene.
The fire affected the homes of Dulal Hossain and Siraj Uddin, among others, totaling four families. Furniture, clothes, and other essential belongings were completely destroyed, according to locals.
A unit from the Ramganj Fire Service Station quickly reached the scene and brought the fire under control with local assistance. However, the child had already died before the fire was fully contained.
Md. Rezaul Haque, an officer from Ramganj Fire Service, stated that preliminary investigation suggests the fire likely started due to an electrical short circuit. He added, “Three houses were completely destroyed and one house partially. The infant suffered severe burns.”
OC Firoz Uddin Chowdhury of Ramganj Police confirmed the fire and the infant’s death and said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
