PNN News Desk | Chittagong:
After a gap of 35 years, the formal process for the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (ChAksu) election began on Sunday (September 14). The election atmosphere spread across the campus with the distribution of nomination papers.

Similar to Dhaka and Jahangirnagar universities, multiple panels may compete in the ChAksu election. Chhatra Dal is preparing to announce a single panel, while Chhatra Shibir, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad, Islami Chhatra Andolan, and other organizations are preparing inclusive panels.

On the first day, nearly 50 nomination papers were sold for both central and hall-level positions. The student union and Socialist Students’ Front alliance ‘Droho Parishad’ submitted nominations as a panel. Additionally, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad plans to announce a panel called ‘ChAksu for Rapid Change’. Another panel coordinated by leftist organizations may also be announced.

Regarding the formation of inclusive panels, Islami Chhatra Andolan, Islami Chhatra Majlis, and other organizations are actively working. Each candidate can submit a nomination with no more than five supporters. Voting will be conducted using the OMR system.

Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Dr. Monir Uddin said, “The election will be conducted with 100% transparency. Excitement among the students is already visible.” The preliminary candidate list will be published on September 21, the final list on September 25, and voting will take place on October 12.
