International Desk | PNN:
Even after a week-long ceasefire in Gaza, Palestinians are still struggling to access food, water, and other essential supplies. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has reported that although 560 tons of food aid are entering Gaza daily since the ceasefire, this amount is still far below the actual need. If the situation persists, the crisis for Gaza’s population could worsen.

WFP spokesperson Abir Atefa told journalists in Geneva, “We are still below the amount of food required, but the situation is improving. The ceasefire has created a narrow window, and we are trying to rapidly and extensively expand food assistance.”

Meanwhile, residents of Gaza remain in dire conditions, receiving only limited food aid. In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Palestinians lined up at a local charitable organization to receive food, highlighting the daily struggles of life under the crisis. United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher has stated that if the situation continues, thousands of trucks will need to deliver aid to Gaza each week.

Elsewhere, Israeli forces conducted a raid on the home of released prisoner Yusef Abdul Halim Dawood in the village of Deir Ghassanah, Ramallah, in the West Bank. Dawood’s family was harassed, and grenades and tear gas were used, creating panic in the surrounding area. Dawood was recently released in Egypt as part of a Palestinian-Israeli prisoner exchange.

Additionally, Iran has strongly condemned Israel’s attacks in southern Lebanon, describing them as a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and regional integrity. The Lebanese government reported that one person was killed and seven others injured in the attacks on Thursday. Iran also criticized France and the United States for remaining inactive and passive, stating that the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel is being violated.

The humanitarian and food crisis in Gaza, combined with Israeli military operations in the West Bank, continues to create a dangerous situation. The need for rapid and effective international action is becoming increasingly urgent.
