The University of Chittagong (CU) completed its first-year undergraduate (honors) admission exams for the 2025–26 academic year on Friday, January 2. The process began with the science faculty’s ‘A’ Unit exam.
The exam was held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with a large number of applicants participating. According to the university administration, approximately 80 students are competing for each seat this year.
The A Unit includes the faculties of Science, Biological Sciences, Engineering, and Marine Sciences & Fisheries. There are 1,093 general seats available in these faculties, with 87,696 applicants applying this year.
All unit exams are based on 100 multiple-choice questions, with a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Minimum passing marks are set at 40 for all units, except for D-1 subunit, where the minimum is 35.
A Unit: English (25 marks), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (25 marks each); candidates answer any three of the four subjects.
B Unit: Bengali or optional English (30), English (30), General Knowledge (40); minimum marks required in Bengali, English, and General Knowledge.
B-1 Subunit: Bengali or optional English (25), English (25), General Knowledge (50).
B-2 Subunit: Bengali or optional English, English, Arabic/Islamic Studies, Buddhist Studies & Pali, General Knowledge totaling 100 marks.
C Unit: English, analytical skills, problem-solving.
D Unit: Bengali or optional English, English, analytical skills, and General Knowledge/Mathematics/Economics. D-1 subunit also includes games and sports rules.
The university authority confirmed that the exams were conducted peacefully and properly. Exams for other units will continue according to the scheduled timetable.
