Bangladesh and Pakistan face off in the final match of the three-match T20I series today at 6 PM at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Led by Litton Kumar Das, the Bangladesh team, already leading 2-0 in the series, will take the field with the goal of a historic whitewash over Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan is desperate to salvage some pride by winning the last match, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter for cricket fans.

Previously, in a T20I series held in Lahore, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh 3-0. Before that, Bangladesh also had a bitter series loss against the UAE. However, the Tigers bounced back in T20 cricket on Sri Lankan soil under Litton Das’s captaincy.

After winning the T20I series against the Lions, the Tigers have continued their success at home in Mirpur. A win today would mark Bangladesh’s first-ever whitewash of Pakistan in a T20I series. Back in 2015, Bangladesh won a one-off T20I against Pakistan, but the Tigers have never won a multi-match T20I series against them—until now.

Mirpur Pitch Sparks Controversy:

Beyond the series itself, the behavior of the Mirpur pitch has stirred widespread debate. While the pitch in Mirpur was high-scoring during the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), this series has seen a slow, low-scoring surface that has drawn criticism from the Pakistani side. After the first match, Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf expressed disappointment, echoed by team captain Salman Agha and coach Mike Hesson, who also questioned the venue's suitability for 2026 T20 World Cup preparation.

Both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had presented this series as part of their World Cup preparations. The upcoming global tournament is set to take place in India and Sri Lanka, where high-scoring pitches are expected. BCB Director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim also stated the same. In this context, Mike Hesson has voiced frustration over having to play on low-scoring wickets in this crucial preparatory series.

Nevertheless, a similar pitch is expected for today’s game in Mirpur. Interestingly, several former Pakistani cricket stars, including Shoaib Akhtar, Ramiz Raja, and Basit Ali, have spoken in defense of the Mirpur pitch and advised players to adapt to the conditions.
