In Mymensingh’s Madan upazila of Netrokona, a female doctor has reportedly received rape and death threats after providing information to the media regarding a widely discussed madrasa student rape and pregnancy case. The doctor has filed a general diary (GD) at the local police station citing concerns for her safety.

According to information, gynecology specialist Dr. Sayma Akter works at a private diagnostic center in the upazila. In her GD, she stated that on April 30, a teenage girl came to her for treatment due to physical complications. After examinations, she found that the girl was 27 weeks pregnant.

Later, after speaking with the girl and her mother, she learned that a local madrasa teacher allegedly had a forced sexual relationship with the victim.

In the GD, Dr. Sayma also stated that when various media outlets contacted her regarding the victim’s medical condition, she provided necessary professional information as a doctor. After her statements were published across television channels, online media, and social media platforms, she began receiving abusive messages from several anonymous Facebook accounts and WhatsApp numbers.

She further alleged that she has been threatened with rape and murder. Due to this, she and her family are living in severe insecurity and fear for their lives, as mentioned in the GD.

Family members have confirmed the filing of the GD but declined to provide further comments due to security concerns.

Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tarikul Islam said that a female doctor has filed a general diary. The matter is being investigated seriously, and police are working to ensure her security. However, he did not provide further details due to the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, in connection with the rape case, madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Sagar has been remanded for three days by the court. The order was issued on Thursday around 11:30 AM by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Judge Mosshina Islam.

Earlier, police had sought a seven-day remand. The court has instructed that he be produced before the court after the remand period ends on May 10.
